Brunner article on power and gender posted on CEHD Vision 2020 blog

BrunnerC-2004Cryss Brunner, professor in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development (OLPD), blogs about “How Conceptions of Power Impact Women” in the CEHD Vision 2020 blog.

“When first researching this topic, I found that men severely dominated (96% were men) the positions of public school superintendent. And while the tide is turning, it is still uncommon to see women administrators at the highest level. This phenomenon formed the basis of my early research—a case study of one of the two women superintendents in the state where I resided. I asked members of the community to identify its most powerful people and specifically asked for names of powerful women as well as names of men.”
