Wahlstrom presents to the DOE on landmark education leadership study

DOEneedlepointDr. Kyla Wahlstrom, director of the Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement (CAREI), was recently invited to Washington, DC, to meet with Department of Education Secretary Arnie Duncan’s cabinet members. She presented key findings from the landmark national study examining the link between educational leadership and student achievement that she co-investigated with Regents Professor Karen Seashore, Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development (OLPD).
The cabinet members will use the study’s findings to shape the next rounds of federal Race to the Top grants, by including expectations for leadership actions found to have a positive link to student learning. The 3.5 million dollar, six-year research study by Wahlstrom and Seashore was funded by The Wallace Foundation.
