FSoS Tai Mendenhall writes about Medical Family Therapy contributions in fieldwork

Tai MendenhallDepartment of Family Social Science professor Tai Mendenhall contributed a post to the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association blog, Moving Beyond the Hospital: Medical Family Therapy in Fieldwork.

His post elaborates on what he sees as the “principle contributions” Medical Family Therapy brings to fieldwork: creating meaning, coping with ambiguous loss, appreciating each other, reevaluating scope of practice, and avoiding compassion fatigue.

Mendenhall’s fieldwork participation began in 2001 with the September 11 tragedies. His research interests include community-based participatory research methods targeting chronic illnesses in minority- and under-served patient and family populations.
