Congratulations to department of Family Social Science graduate students Jennifer Doty, Phoua Xiong, and Cigdem Yumbul for being among the recipients of the 2013 Women’s Philanthropic Leadership Circle Award.
Jennifer is seeking a doctorate in family science and will use the award to participate in two academic conferences and pay tuition expenses.
Phoua is seeking a master’s degree in family social science and will use her award to defray expenses related to research for her thesis on the experience of teen mothers of second-generation Hmong Americans.
Cigdem is a doctoral student specializing in couple and family therapy and will use her award to support research in Van, Turkey, where she will spend two weeks conducting individual and focus-group interviews with mothers in a region affected by earthquake disaster.
