Gunnar to share research insights on toxic stress and early childhood at MPR’s UBS forum

GunnarM-prefJoin Megan Gunnar, Regents Professor and director of the Institute of Child Development, on November 19 for Healthy States Presents Toxic Stress and Early Childhood at Minnesota Public Radio’s UBS Forum.  As a national leader in toxic stress science, Gunnar will share insights from her research that include developing strategies and tools to help communities counteract what can be life-long effects from a child’s early experiences with poverty, unstable home environments and abuse. Community leaders MayKao Y. Hang, the Wilder Foundation, Sondra Samuels, Northside Achievement Zone, and Dr. Michael Troy, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, will share what they have found to be effective to foster healthy development in young children.

MPR reporter Sasha Aslanian will host the evening’s conversation and there will be time included for questions and comments from the audience. The event will take place on November 19 at 7:00 pm at the UBS Forum at Minnesota Public Radio, 480 Cedar Street, St. Paul.
