Tucker Center announces 2014-15 Women Coaches Report & Infographic

2014-15_infographic2014-15_report-coverThe Tucker Center, in collaboration with the Alliance of Women Coaches, is proud to announce the release of the 2014-15 Head Coaches of Women’s Collegiate Teams Research Report and Report Card Infographic. 40+ years after the passage of Title IX, female sport participation is at an all-time high but the percentage of women coaching women at the collegiate level has declined from 90+% in 1974 to a near all-time low of 40% today. While the number of collegiate coaching opportunities is also at a record high, only 20% of all college coaching positions for men’s and women’s teams are filled by women.

To help stop the decline and increase the percentage of women in the coaching profession, and to increase awareness and start a national dialogue on this issue, this research series and annual report card was launched. It is the only report to assign a letter grade (A through F) for the percentage of women head coaches of women’s teams, which in turn provides a visible mechanism of accountability at the institutional level. The 2014-15 report and infographic mark the third year of the Women Coaches Research Series in which the Tucker Center collects and analyzes data on women coaching women’s teams in select “big time” NCAA Division-I FBS institutions.
