Dunja Antunovic, PhD, assistant professor of sport sociology in the School of Kinesiology, affiliated scholar with the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport, recently published an article entitled, “Feminist Sport Media Studies in SSJ: Mapping Theoretical Frameworks and Geographies of Knowledge Production” in the Sociology of Sport Journal.

The article is a response to the special issue call that celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Sociology of Sport Journal, the official journal of the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport.

Antunovic’s article defines the subfield of feminist sport media studies and tracks the changes in this area of research in the Sociology of Sport Journal since the 1980s. The article highlights key theoretical and methodological approaches, as well as gaps in literature, in a hope to serve as a useful framework for scholars conducting research in feminist sport media studies.
