C&I’s Bodong Chen elected as member of the SoLAR Executive Committee

Associate Professor Bodong Chen in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction has been elected as a member at-large of the Society for Learning Analytics Research (SoLAR) executive committee. According to their website, SoLAR is “an interdisciplinary network of leading international researchers who are exploring the role and impact of analytics on teaching, learning, training, and development. SoLAR has been active in organizing the International Conference on Learning Analytics & Knowledge and the Learning Analytics Summer Institute, launching multiple initiatives to support collaborative and open research around learning analytics, promoting the publication and dissemination of learning analytics research, and advising and consulting with state, provincial, and national governments.” 

The executive committee members act as representatives of the society as a whole, and are nominated for election by paid members. 

Along with holding the title of associate professor, Chen serves as the Bonnie Wesby Huebner Chair in Education and Technology, and co-directs the Learning Informatics Lab. His research is at the intersection of learning science, learning analytics, networked learning, and network science.
