Dengel awarded grant for vascular health research

Don Dengel, PhD

Donald R. Dengel, Ph.D., professor in the School of Kinesiology and director of the Laboratory of Integrative Human Physiology (LIHP), was awarded a Grant-in-Aid from the University of Minnesota. The grant titled “Effectiveness of Extracellular Microvesicles to Track Cardiovascular Risk in the Treatment of Prostate Cancer Patients” will examine the effect of androgen deprivation therapy in prostate cancer patients on vascular function. The grant will focus on the development of novel methods to examine vascular health via blood borne biomarkers of vascular health. The results of this grant may provide clinicians with an easy and affordable method to monitor vascular health in patients undergoing cancer therapies.
