Nick Foreman and Anton Hesse, graduate assistants in the School of Kinesiology, along with Li Li Ji, PhD, professor and director of the Laboratory of Physiological Hygiene and Exercise Science (LPHES), have published an article entitled, “Redox Signaling and Sarcopenia: Searching for the Primary Suspect” in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences.

The paper describes the different ways in which reactive oxygen species contribute to sarcopenia. It also highlights the role of peroxiredoxins as a potential connection between reactive oxygen species and downstream exercise adaptation.
