Andrew Furco, OLPD Professor and UMN Associate Vice President for Public Engagement, has been selected as the recipient of the 2021 John S. Duley Lifetime Achievement Award in Experiential Education by the National Society for Experiential Education. This award recognizes the lifetime, sustained contributions and achievements of those who have devoted their professional careers to the development of the philosophy and practice of experiential education and to the advancement of that field. They have done so while demonstrating professional integrity, humanitarian regard, ethical concern, standards of excellence, informed knowledge, leadership, service, dedication, and recognized scholarship/practice.

Established in 2012, the award is named for Michigan State Professor Emeritus John S. Duley, who played a central role in bringing experiential education into the mainstream of higher education. NSEE will present Furco with the award during their Annual Conference in September 2021.
