Keisha Varma wins President’s Award for Outstanding Service

Keisha Varma, associate vice provost of equity and diversity and associate professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, was recently honored with the 2022 President’s Award for Outstanding Service.

This award recognizes exceptional service to the University, its schools, colleges, departments, and service units by an active or retired faculty or staff member. Recipients of this award have gone well beyond their regular duties and have demonstrated an unusual commitment to the University community.

Varma’s service has been described by her colleagues as exceptional and demonstrating unusual commitment. Her tireless advocacy for program needs, creation of a community where all students and faculty feel a sense of belonging, scholarship that is deeply-rooted in a community-engaged approach, and involvement beyond her department clearly demonstrate her service as a leader, mentor, scholar, and good citizen.

She will be honored at a reception at Eastcliff on June 15, and the Board of Regents will recognize her at their meeting on May 13.
