Kendeou participates in Forum of Experts at 2023 Nobel Prize Summit

Panayiota (Pani) Kendeou, Distinguished McKnight University Professor and co-director of the Learning Informatics Lab, was invited to participate in the 2023 Nobel Prize Summit. The three-day Summit took place May 24-26 in Washington D.C. and brought together Nobel Prize laureates, scientists, and industry leaders for talks and panel discussions.

Dr. Kendeou is part of a global network of interdisciplinary researchers who are experts on misinformation; she was invited to participate in the Forum of Experts as a part of the Mercury Project, funded by the Social Science Research Council. The Mercury Project is an experiment designed to determine the conditions that promote successful revision of misinformation and preexisting beliefs. In the forum, Nobel Prize laureates came together with experts in a series of panel discussions on the important topic of misinformation.

The main question in this year’s summit was “How can we build trust in truth, facts, and scientific evidence so that we can create a hopeful future for all?” The event culminated with a solutions session where discussions are turned into action items.
