Koenig quoted in NPR story on how babies understand adult sadness

Melissa KoenigMelissa Koenig, associate professor at the Institute of Child Development, was quoted in a National Public Radio story on how babies understand the emotional responses of adults around them. In the story, What Babies Understand About Adult Sadness, a recent study by Sabrina Chiarella and Diane Poulin-Dubois, both of Concordia University, is discussed. The study examines the reactions of 18-month-old infants to expressed and unexpressed sadness by the adults around them and Koenig’s research on the range and nuance of babies’ emotions is also discussed.
