Connie Magnuson, Ph.D., director of Recreation, Park and Leisure Studies program in the School of Kinesiology, was the keynote speaker at the Fall Women’s Physical Education Alumni Association (WPEAA). The presentation was titled, “Praise for Play”. Magnuson believes that play is a critical element for development.
It is means to encourage creativity, spark innovation, invigorate physically, refresh mentally, and bring joy and laughter to individuals of all ages. We often devalue play, don’t make time for it, or are too distracted by other things (screens of any kind!) to reap the tremendous rewards that play can bring for a healthy and happy life. – Connie Magnuson
