GunnarM-prefMegan Gunnar, director and Regents Professor at the Institute of Child Development,  gave the keynote address at Minnesota Public Radio’s (MPR) “Healthy States” initiative discussion with community leaders on the science of toxic stress in babies and children on January 20. The discussion was broadcast on MPR.

In her address, “Toxic stress in babies and children causes lifelong problems,” Gunnar summarizes current research on brain development, while also discussing the implications of toxic stress in development. As she puts it: “We’re going to talk about toxic stress tonight, but the real topic on the table is the importance of healthy child development for a sustainable state and nation.”
