Andrew Furco’s latest volume, Re-envisioning the Public Research University: Navigating Competing Demands in an Era of Rapid Change, was published by Routledge in late December of 2021. This volume is co-edited by Furco (Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development Professor and former University of Minnesota Associate Vice President for Public Engagement), as well as Robert Bruininks (University of Minnesota President Emeritus and former CEHD Dean), Robert Jones (Chancellor of University of Illinois, Urban Champaign), and Kateryna Kent (a University of Minnesota Researcher). Co-contributing authors include OLPD Professors David Weerts and Heidi Barajas and OLPD PhD alumnae Nichole Sorensen, Erin Konkle, and Jayne Sommers.
The volume explores the numerous and competing demands that America’s public research universities face. It also considers how institutions and their leaders can best navigate this challenge to ensure longevity, relevance, and success on the local, national, and global stage.
