The Early Writing Project research team traveled to the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Convention and Expo in Portland, Oregon, February 5-8. Through this research, they aim to help educators who assist students with intensive early-writing needs through data-based instruction.
The group presented multiple times throughout the event. “The Early Writing Project: Tools, Learning Modules, and Coaching for Data-Based Individualization” was written and presented by Department of Educational Psychology chair and Stern Family Professor of Reading Success Kristen McMaster, researcher Elizabeth Lam, University of Missouri Professor Erica Lembke, and special education graduate students Emma Shanahan and Ahmed Alghamdi.
School psychology graduate students Nicole McKevett and Stacey Brandjord and special education graduate students Britta Bresina and Seyma Brinci presented “Coaching Teachers: A Model for Training and implementing Coaching with Fidelity.”
“Early Writing Intervention to Build Literacy Skills for Children with Intensive Need” was presented by University of Southern Mississippi Assistant Professor Alex Smith, University of Missouri school psychology graduate student Lizzie McCollum, and University of Minnesota school psychology graduate students Nicole McKevett and Stacey Brandjord.
