Elizabeth Carlson and Kathleen Thomas have received a grant from the National Institute on Aging. The grant totals $3,019,218 over the course of 5 years in support of research titled “Adult Cognitive and Neurobiological Indicators of Aging: Impact of Adversity and Social Support”. This research is based on the Minnesota Longitudinal Study of Risk and Adaptation that has followed individuals from prenatal experience to adulthood.
The grant has been awarded to Carlson and Thomas, principal investigators at ICD and colleagues, Glenn Roisman (ICD) and Jeff Simpson (Psychology). In this project, the research team will examine the effects of early experiences of psychosocial adversity on adult cognitive and neurobiological indicators of aging as well as the potential moderating effects of positive early caregiving on these relations.
