School of Kinesiology alumna Emma Lee, PhD, is the lead author of a publication, “The relationships between age and running performance variables in master runners,” in Sport Sciences for Health. Chris Lundstrom, PhD, lecturer and M.Ed. director at the School of Kinesiology, co-authored this publication.
The publication found that in the tested population, age was negatively associated with peak aerobic capacity and oxygen cost with body mass scaled allometrically. Aerobic capacity declines with age, but there may be sex differences in age-related alterations to submaximal running.
