Jennifer McComas, Rodney S. Wallace Professor for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning and special education program coordinator in the Department of Educational Psychology, and Emily Unholz-Bowden, a PhD student in the program and one of McComas’ advisees, will present at the virtual Western Michigan University Department of Psychology Telehealth Colloquium Series on Friday, May 1. During the virtual event, presenters will discuss practical issues related to delivering telehealth services to children with developmental disabilities.

Professor McComas will participate during the event’s panel discussion which will address questions on a variety of topics surrounding telehealth, including: the use of telehealth to address problem behavior; the assessment of motivation for families to engage in the technology; and the contrast between essential and optional aspects of telehealth.

Unholz-Bowden will give an opening presentation on research she conducted on “Caregiver Training Via Telehealth on Behavioral Procedures: A Systematic Review.” Coauthors from the Department of Educational Psychology include: Professor McComas; Professor Kristen McMaster; and special education PhD students: Shawn N. Girtler and Alefyah Shipchandler; and post-doc research associate Rebecca Kolb.
