Meet ICD’s new Graduate Program Coordinator Megan Troje

Megan Troje has recently joined the Institute of Child Development (ICD) team as the new Graduate Program Coordinator. In this role, she will work with ICD students in the master’s degree and certificate programs. Learn more about Megan, her background, and what excites her about ICD below.

What is your new role at ICD and what will your responsibilities be?

I am the Graduate Program Coordinator for the M.A. in Applied Child and Adolescent Development program, Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Certificate program and the M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education program. I will help with the admission, advising and administrative aspects of these programs.

Could you describe your previous professional experiences?

I began my professional career as a preschool classroom teaching assistant, before obtaining my license and transitioning to a lead teaching position. While teaching, I received my master’s degree and transitioned into a role in graduate admissions at another local university.

Tell us how your personal and professional experiences led you to ICD?

I have found a passion in both early childhood education and development as well as a passion for supporting adults who work in these fields with children and families. This role is a perfect intersection of the two.

What are you most looking forward to about working at ICD?

I am excited to learn from the faculty and students about all of the latest research and experiences happening in the field, in real-time.

What is your favorite animal?

Dogs! (Specifically my former yellow lab, Jaxson, who we had to say goodbye to earlier this year) They are the most loyal, constant companions we could have in this life.

What is something you are proud of?

My daughters, Jordyn and Brooke. I learn something new from them every single day and wonder often how I could have created such awesome little people!

What are three things you would take with you to a deserted island?

Since this specifically says “things” and not “people” or “food”… 1. Sunglasses, 2. A journal so I can stay organized and creative, and 3. a device where I can listen to podcasts and music, and maybe call for help if I needed it 🙂

What is your favorite food?

Pasta and seafood would be tied for number one I think. Combine them together and it’s even better.. Shrimp fettuccine? Yes please! But I am also an aspiring foodie and love trying new foods, restaurants and recipes any chance I get.
