What is your new role at ICD and what will your responsibilities be?
I am so excited to be joining ICD as the incoming Marketing Director. Through my role, I will show a variety of stakeholders who ICD is and the work that makes it such a special place. I will be driving the department’s marketing efforts to bring awareness to all the groundbreaking work that is being done here in ICD.
Could you describe your previous professional experiences?
Throughout my career, I have been involved in high school district communications. I have helped the districts bring their vision to life through communication and marketing. By using different forms of media, I enjoyed telling the stories of students, staff, and families within the district to the communities in which they lived. In those roles, I have also worked to bring each district’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion to life through marketing.
Tell us how your personal and professional experiences led you to ICD?
I come from a family of educators. My parents wanted to make sure I understood the importance of education growing up, as we had five teachers in our family. For this reason, I was always drawn to the teaching profession. Meanwhile, as a child, I always wanted to make cool jingles for television commercials and tell stories – so communication and marketing have always been my passions . So I would have to say that being a communications professional in education was something that I was destined to do. Throughout my career, I have quickly learned that working in education takes a special kind of person, and that being around this work is what I am truly passionate about. A chance to tell the stories of ICD’s staff, students, and faculty to the world was one that I could not pass up.
What are you most looking forward to about working at ICD?
I am most looking forward to connecting with the ICD community and using marketing to tell their stories. There is such much great work that is being done here, and I want the world to see it.
