School of Social Work Professor Esther Wattenberg is featured on the Minnesota Public Radio website talking about her work on the Minnesota Child Mortality Review Panel. The panel is a state-mandated group that looks at child deaths that are attributed to maltreatment. The interview was part of a report about an apparent drop in child abuse cases in the state. Wattenberg said her role on the panel is to raise questions about the community’s responsibilities in these cases. Wattenberg is also special projects coordinator for the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare and policy and program coordinator in family and child welfare for the University’s Center for Urban and Regional Affairs.
