Danes wins 2014 Hubler Award For Excellence in Service to Family Businesses

Sharon Danes Department of Family Social Science professor Sharon Danes is being honored with the Hubler Award for Excellence in Service to Family Businesses for her research, teaching, and consulting on family business disciplines.

Danes’s research focuses on factors at the intersection of the family and business systems that affect the viability of family business as well as the intersection of social and economic decision-making in family finances. She has developed many outreach opportunities from this research such as Rural MN Lives, providing information for family business vitality, as well as personal financial success. She has received many awards and distinctions throughout her career including the International Family Enterprise Research Academy Fellow designation, the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Dean Don Felker Financial Management Award, and the Epsilon Sigma Phi (Pi Chapter) Distinguished Team award for Educational Response in Families’ Financial Situations After a Natural Disaster.

The Hubler Award recognizes professionals serving family businesses for their superior practice, support, and dedication to the success of these businesses and the people behind them. Danes will be presented with the award at the 2014 Minnesota Family Business Awards, November 12, at the Hilton Minneapolis.
