CEHD Alumni Relations, along with the CEHD Alumni Society, have highlighted twenty-three outstanding alums as part of the CEHD 23: Rising Alumni initiative. Representing all of CEHD’s eight academic departments, these alumni have achieved early distinction in their careers, demonstrated outstanding leadership, or shown exceptional volunteer service in their communities.
Of the twenty three alumni recognized, three are graduates from the School of Kinesiology: Jack Brewer, Alex McKinney, and Angela Ruggiero.

Brewer received both his B.S. and M.Ed. in sport management. A former college and professional football player, he went on to launch and direct The Brewer Group (TBG), a global advisory and banking firm. Through TBG, Brewer has established The Jack Brewer Foundation, an organization that helps to empower women and children in impoverished and underdeveloped areas.
McKinney attained his M.Ed. in recreation, park and leisure studies. He now serves as the recreation supervisor for the Three Rivers Park District, where he teaches lifelong recreation activities while promoting an active and outdoor lifestyle.
An M.Ed. sport management graduate, Ruggiero, a four-time Olympic medalist and prominent ice hockey player, is currently the president of the Women’s Sports Foundation, and was elected to serve on the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission.
