FSOS professor to address three international conferences

Susan Walker, associate professor in Family Social Science, will address issues around families and technology in the digital age at three virtual international conferences in May and June.

She will address parenting education and technology as the keynote speaker at the United Nations International Day of Families, Friday, May 14. This aligns with the release of the background report she prepared for the UN, “Technology Use and Families: Implications for Work-Family Balance and Parenting Education.” The Theme for the 26th International Day of Families, Families and New Technologies. Her remarks and the Q and A will be available on Facebook starting at 9 a.m. CST.

On May 17, she will virtually address the conference, Family-responsive Policies in the Digital Era, held in Warsaw, Poland. She is a panel member discussing the topic, “Family-responsive regulations – should the state regulate digitalization inside the family?” Her focus is on variation on technology access and use by families.

Walker has also been invited to deliver a keynote address June 10 at the 6th Consortium of Institutes on Family in the Asian Region (CIFA) Regional Symposium, “Family First: Supporting Asian Families in the Era of Inclusive Growth.” She will address “Digital realities: Visioning the next steps for the field in support of families and professionals.” This Regional Symposium is a joint effort of CIFA and the National Taiwan University Children and Family Research Center.  Sponsored by CTBC Charity Foundation, the symposium aims to serve as a regional platform for converging professional wisdom for promoting family well-being in Asia.
