In an interview in the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Minnesota Gophers football quarterback MarQueis Gray credits an internship program that was part of a Youth Studies class with helping to make him a better leader. Gray and teammates Brandon Green, Johnny Johnson, Eric Lair, Christyn Lewis, Da’Jon McKnight and Troy Stoudermire, all Youth Studies majors, took the Youthwork Internship class this summer.
The students spent three days a week in a supervised field learning experience working with the DeLaSalle High School football team. Youth Studies is part of the School of Social Work, and the class was instructed by Assistant Professsor Katie Johnston-Goodstar. Read the story in the Pioneer Press.
