Christopher Lundstrom, PhD, a lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science in the School of Kinesiology, recently published an article to Science and Sports. The article, entitled, “The relationship between climatic condition, sex, and degree of slowing in the marathon,” explored the effects of various factors on the loss of pace in marathon runners. The article concludes that warm weather contributes to slowing, and that males are more likely than females to slow. Lundstrom co-authored the article with Erin McGuirk, MS, and Drs. Eric Snyder, Morgan Betker, Z.T. Rourk, K.E. Uithoven, and E.J. Lee. The article was based on research that McGuirk did for her master’s thesis.
