Zan Gao, PhD, professor in the School of Kinesiology and director of the Physical Activity Epidemiology Laboratory (PAEL), along with Suryeon Ryu, a PhD student and PAEL member, presented a workshop focused on technology-based physical activity on March 3, 2023. The workshop was hosted by Minneapolis Public Schools’ (MPS) Health and Physical Education Department. More than 50 health education and physical education teachers from MPS attended the workshop. Dr. Gao delivered a talk during the workshop about an effective physical activity program that uses active video games, while Ryu discussed the use of health wearables in physical education classes. Additionally, teachers had the opportunity to experience heart rate monitors while engaging in physical activity with an active video game. The workshop was well received by all teachers.
