Student-athletes, Hasz and Basten, honored at the Golden Goldys banquet

At this year’s Golden Goldys annual banquet, Bethany Hasz, a graduate student in the School of Kinesiology and track and cross-country runner for the U’s women’s teams, was awarded the Big Ten Medal of Honor, being one of the two University of Minnesota recipients. This prestigious award is given annually to the top female and male student-athletes at each conference institution and accounts for both athletic and academic success. In addition to this award, Hasz was also named All-American, USTFCCCA All-Region, First Team All-Big Ten, and Big Ten Athlete of the Year. This year at the NCAA Championships, Hasz posted the fastest 6K time in Gophers’ history. Congratulations, Bethany, for your well-deserved recognition!

Also, Alec Basten, a School of Kinesiology graduate assistant studying exercise physiology and a member of the U of M’s men’s track and field team, was honored as a 2022 Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship recipient. Congratulations, Alec!
