Human Sensorimotor Control Laboratory members to present at NASPSPA

JuergenSeveral members of the Human Sensorimotor Control Lab (HSCL) will be contributing to the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity (NASPSPA) conference in New Orleans next week. Jürgen Konczak, Ph.D., professor of kinesiology and director of the HSCL, will be one of three program chairs for the conference, serving as the program chair for the Development Perspective section.


The following is a list of the presenters from the HSCL and their respective talks:

  • Dr. Konczak will give a presentation titled, “Measuring arm proprioception to distinguish between two different speech-motor disorders.”
  • Dr. Joshua Aman, post-doctoral research associate in the HSCL will present, “Haptic perception deficits in Parkinson’s disease are improved in deep brain stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus.”
  • Dr. Chia-hao Lu, former Ph.D. student in the HSCL and now a post-doc fellow in the UM Department of Neurology, will give a presentation titled, “Visuo-haptic integration during object size discrimination: An fMRI study.”
  • Naveen Elangovan, Ph.D. student in the HSCL, will present his work titled, “Measuring position sense: Comparing psychophysical evaluation to joint position matching methods.”
  • Jessica Holst, Ph.D. student in the HSCL, will present her work titled, “Development of proprioception in childhood: Effect of muscle vibration on position sense.”
