Dr. Li Li Ji, professor of kinesiology and director of the Laboratory of Physiological Hygiene and Exercise Science (LPHES), his former graduate student Dr. Tianou Zhang, now an assistant professor of kinesiology at the University of Texas San Antonio, and colleagues have had their research cited in an Eat This, Not That! article, “The One Breakfast Food That Reduces Inflammation, Says Science.” The research is from a 2014 article, “Avenanthramide supplementation attenuates exercise-induced inflammation in postmenopausal women,” which looks at a polyphenol in oats called avenanthramide (AVA) that has been proven to slow down the inflammatory response and increase antioxidant defenses.
