Bijwadia receives medical student research grant

Shefali Bijwadia, a first year medical student received a University of Minnesota Foundation Medical Student Research Grant. The grant provides $3,000 of stipend support for 8 weeks of research over the summer. Shefali is a member of the Skeletal Muscle Plasticity and Regeneration Laboratory (SMPRL), led by Sarah Greising, PhD, associate professor in the School of Kinesiology. Her project, “Effects of Drug Treatments on Muscle Regeneration after Volumetric Muscle Loss (VML) in a Mouse Model”, will evaluate metabolic enhancement and fibrotic suppression to improve injury outcomes.
