Diane Wiese-Bjornstal, PhD, professor and associate director of the School of Kinesiology, and director of the Sports Medicine Psychology Laboratory (SMPL), and Francesca Principe, MS alumnae and researcher in SMPL, co-authored a publication, “Within-field variability of turfgrass surface properties and athlete performance: Modeling their relationship using GPS and GIS technologies.”
The study analyzes surface properties of turfgrass athletic fields regarding field-variability, and how global positioning system (GPS) impacts athlete performance. Additional authors include Chase M. Straw, Emily L. Kurtz, and Brian P. Horgan. The article is published in the Journal of Sports Engineering and Technology.
