Hawe and Konczak organized international symposium on use of robotic technology in stroke

Rachel Hawe, PhD, assistant professor of kinesiology and director of the NeuroRehabilitation Across the Lifespan Laboratory (NeuRAL), Juergen Konczak, PhD, professor in the School of Kinesiology and director of the Human Sensorimotor Control Laboratory (HSCL), and members of the University’s Neurorobotics Consortium co-hosted an international virtual meeting on Robotics for Treating Stroke with UMN faculty, Andrew Grande, PhD, from Neurosurgery and Ann van de Winckel, PhD, from Rehabilitation Science. This meeting was held on December 9, 2021.

The mini-symposium featured four prominent speakers from Canada, Germany, and the United States who provided an overview of the current state-of-the-art robotic technology used for neurosurgical intervention, neurorehabilitation, and brain-computer interfaces that allow paralyzed people to communicate with their environment.
