Courtney Boucher, PhD, Tucker Center Assistant Director for Research & Programming in the School of Kinesiology, along with research assistant and School of Kinesiology doctoral student Anna Goorevich, and Nicole M. LaVoi, PhD, director of the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport and senior lecturer, publish “Be her reason to stay in sport: The importance of Coaching HER” (2023, Global Sport Matters).

In the article, Boucher, Goorevich, and LaVoi note the issues girls in sports persistently face, including a lack of personalized coaching, large physical inactivity rates, and barriers to access sports within underserved communities. They discuss how Coaching HER, a free digital tool designed by the Tucker Center to train coaches to support girls in sport, can help solve these systemic issues. Boucher and her research associates also expand upon why the Coaching HER program is important, what the program is, how everyone can benefit from it, and coach testimonials.
